“A poem for Emily’s Bridge”
Within a forest, road of earth
Obscured by loving arms of night,
The bridge, it stood in shadows’ mirth
Below a moon bequething sight.
Upon the bridge, it shined so bright
O’er darkened wood with pallid rage;
Old boards caressed by tender light,
Once crafted from an elder sage.
Perfume the breeze with musk of age
And majesty to set the theme,
Two lovers wander, take the stage,
The moon upon their eyes agleam
As shadows dance upon the stream,
Then blush in shades as lovers kiss
And sink into a mythos dream
Between the rocks and water’s bliss—
Within a forest, road of earth,
The bridge, it stood in shadows’ mirth.
